June 29 - June 30 The Family Re-Union

Saturday evening was the main event for the re-union. My cousin had arranged a hall and a catered dinner for all. Had a chance to see a lot of relatives I had not seen for a long time.

Sunday afternoon was a barbecue at my cousin's and sons shop and they tried out their new portable bbq.

Monday we had a swim in Thersa's new pool and shared pizza at my Aunt's and then a campfire back at the ranch.

June 24 - June 28 La Grande Oregon to Peace River Alberta

The Rally ended June 23 and the next morning we headed to Spokane where we stayed in a very nice RV Park complete with a swimming pool and hot tub, which we both used.

From Spokane we headed to Calgary to meet up with my sister and her husband prior to heading north to Peace River. While still in Calgary we had a short visit with all my Calgary nephew's and niece and all their families.

The trip to Peace River was for a family re-union. On the way we picked up Iva and took her along with us.

June 21st 2013 Historical Tour of the town of Union

We all formed a caravan and traveled the 6 mile drive to Union where we were greeted by the museum and hotel staff for tours and a newly prepared for us, town walking tour.

The afternoon was filled with some seminars and then everyone gathered for a wine tasting and some appes.

Here is a shot of the rally campout.

June 20th 2013 NROA Rally Continues

Today Helen went on a tour of Ladd Marsh lead by a park warden. She very much enjoyed this outing.

I went on a tour of the Alko trailer axle plant,
the Northwood frame shop and then the rest of the factory.

When these activities ended we were treated to an ice cream social with all the fixings. Later we gathered for a pot-luck dinner and were entertained with the first half of the movie "Paint Your Wagon" which was filmed in part in this area.

June 17 2013 We are on the road!

We left Monday morning and only had about a twenty minute wait at the border. We also experienced about  a thirty to forty minute delay with the bridge out near Mt. Vernon. Other than that we had a great trip down the I5, I405 and then I90 etc down to Yakima, where we stayed at the Yakima Sportsman State Park.

Tuesday we drove the rest of the way to La Grande Oregon to join the Northwood RV Owners Association rally. We got set-up and went to a campfire in the evening.

Wednesday we boarded a bus for a tour of the Pendleton Underground

and also their woolen mill. The weather was not great so the tour was a good thing to do that day (it had been planned for that day anyway).

April 11th - 15th 2013 Eagle Vista RV Park In Squamish

We joined Alex, Jan and Barry, Maxine and John and Richard and Carol for a few days camping at Eagle Vista in Squamish. Most of us brought our bikes some we put on several km's exploring Squamish. We toured the West Coast Railway museum and ate out for a Fish and Chip meal.

Friday we hiked the 1st peak of the Chief, the trail had been fixed up with lots of rock steps, and the top accessed via 2 ladders and 2 chains in various parts. We did not stay very long up top as the weather was changing and we got a little bit of snow falling down upon us.

Helen and I stayed an extra night as this will be the only RV trip we will be able to take before we depart in June for our Cross Canada Adventure.
