Sept 27 - Sept 29 We have crossed the border

Yes we are in the USA. With my desire to see some fall colors we headed to New Hampshire as they are ahead of the coast regions. Also it was a chance to see some of the White Mountains and the Appalachian Trail. Today's post will be about our trip up Mt. Washington on the Auto-Road (which Helen did not enjoy) and the views we saw up top. The auto road travels 8 miles up to the top of Mt Washington, but the roadway is quite narrow and quite exposed on one side or the other as it wanders up the mountain. Besides hiking (the Appalachian Trail crosses Mt Washington) the only other way up is via a clog railway from the other side of the mountain (actually there are several different trains and cars),
